About PiPN
This year the curriculum is slightly different from last summer due to school and association schedules, as well as feedback from participants.

Schedule
PiPN runs from May 21 through August 10, 2007.  Upon completion, interns will receive 6 credit hours from University of Akron our partnering university.

1.)   The internship begins this year with an intensive, hands-on needlearts workshop at the University of Akron. Students will study basic hand needleart techniques, as well as the history and structure of the industry.  The class begins on May 21st and runs through May 31th (with May 28th off for the Memorial Day holiday).  The class resumes after the tradeshow from June 4th through June 7th.

2.)   The interns will travel to Columbus OH to attend TNNAÕs annual trade show from June 1st through June 3rd.  Interns will get an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the latest trends, fashions, and techniques that the needlearts industry has to offer!  They will also have the opportunity to connect with successful professionals who are involved in this unique industry.

3.)   Upon completion of the workshop at The University of Akron, interns will spend the next 9 weeks with an individual host company (from June 11th through August 10th.  Our hosts are designers, wholesalers, retailers, teachers and manufacturers throughout the U.S.  They will be matched with these hosts according to interest, location preference, and availability.

4.)   As part of the studentsÕ internship project, they will participate in the annual TNNA Student NeedleArts Competition.  This is a great opportunity for both cash prizes and
industry recognition.  Five students who participated in PiPN 2006 received Awards of Excellence for their performance during their internships.
